The city of Eureka has a rich and diverse western history. Unique characters have made both Eureka's past and present part of the great Northwest. A more complete history of Eureka will be coming soon from the editor of "Lost Trails Publishing," This will be a detailed history of the town's past.

Eureka sits six miles south of the 24 hour Canadian port of entry at Roosville, which is forty five minutes south west of the alpine town of Fernie, BC, and roughly an hour's drive from Cranbrook, BC. We are situated approximately one hour north of Glacier International Airport, at Kalispell, Montana, and roughly 4 1/2 hours east of Spokane, Washington. From Glacier National Park one can hike over the Ksanka Mountain Range into the Ten Lakes scenic area, just south of Eureka. Looking for a place to stay? Here is a list of Motels & BB's for you.

Our town is known for the mildest weather in the state, hence the moniker "Banana Belt" of Montana. The summer temperatures average in the eighties, June is our rainiest month, and most snowfall occurs in January or February. On some clear nights you can see the spectacular Aurora Borealis, more commonly known as the Northern Lights. We do experience sudden temperature changes, which prompts locals to say, "Don't like the weather? Wait a few minutes its sure to change!" Below to the right you will find some helpful statistics on our weather norms.
